Eileen Twomey DTM

Congratulations to Eileen Twomey who achieved the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award. Eileen was Area 49 Governor 2011-12 and was a founder of the Apple corporate club in Cork.

Cork Adult Education/Training Exhibition

Toastmasters from the Cork region were in attendance at the Cork Adult Education and Training Exhibition, which was held at the City Hall, Cork. Much interest was expressed in Toastmasters and forthcoming OPEN NIGHT events were promoted. Congratulations to Jerome O' Donovan, Blarney Toastmasters, who coordinated the event and to the many toastmasters who manned the stand.

Dates for the Area finals of the Table Topics and Humorous Speech contests are below. These are nights (and even days) of entertainment, not to be missed!

Area 9:   October 9th, Malton Hotel, Killarney, 20:00.

Area 10:  October 10th, Sarsfield GAA Complex, Glanmire, 20:00.

Area 17:  October 16th, Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown, 20:00.

Area 23:  October 17th, Bru Columbanus, Wilton, Cork. 20:00.

Toastmasters; Adult Education Exhibition.

Toastmasters in the Cork Area will be in attendance at the Annual Cork Adult Education & Training Exhibition, which will be held at the Cork City Hall, Tuesday Sept 4th 5-9pm; Wednesday Sept 5th 12.30-6pm and Thursday Sept 6th 5-9pm. Club Meeting times and the answers to all your Toastmaster questions will be provided!

Open meeting fortnight

Toastmaster clubs in Ireland and Britain will be hosting a fortnight of open meetings September 17-30, especially for non-members.

Yvonne Jordan

Best wishes to Yvonne Jordan from our neighbouring Division D, Enniscorthy Toastmasters, who is representing District 71 in the International Speech contest semi-final in Orlando. Yvonne will be interviewed on Newstalk 106-108 fm 22:00 wednesday 15th august and was interviewed for the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror for the same dates.
